Listserv Lite - We've had a number of visitors ask if there are any free mailing list programs available on the Net. Here's one from the makers of the well-known industrial-strength creators of Listserv. The Free Edition is a freeware version of Listserv Lite, limited to a maximum of 10 mailing lists with up to 500 subscribers each. This version is free, as long as the licensee does not derive a profit from using the software. Be sure to read the usage policy.

SchizoSigz! - This is a handy E-mail signature generator that works with any E-mail program that utilizes ASCII based signature files. SchizoSigz! takes a header file, footer file, and a file filled with quotes, taglines, or whatever, and generates an E-mail signature file at a specified interval. It runs from the Win 95/NT task bar.

Pegasus Mail - One of the Net's all-time classic freeware products, Pegasus is the best E-mail client out there, bar none. It has tons of great features, including a spell checker, multiple signatures, checking of multiple mailboxes, etc. If you download Pegasus, then be sure to check out the Guide to Pegasus Mail Add-ons, which is a good collection of enhancement programs for this E-mail client.

Eudora Light - Our favorite E-mail program. Eudora offers you tons of features: filtering your mail & organizing it into folders, multiple signatures, search functions, nicknames and much more.

WorldFlash News Ticker - This useful free program delivers lots of information to your desktop, including news headlines, stock quotes, and weather data. It can also check for your incoming E-mail (POP3 compatible only) and display E-mail headers in a scrolling window. (The install program is 1.2 megs in size and is for Win 95 and NT only).

E-mail Remover - A free program that helps you avoid having to download unwanted E-mail and spam over your Net connection. It lets you preview mail headers and delete unwanted E-mail right away (without having to download the E-mail first). Helpful!

We used this service for several months for our freebies newsletter and found it to be reasonably reliable . Note: not everyone is accepted for the free mailing list service. You must demonstrate to the site's owner, Phil Tanny, that you are serious about running a mailing list and are committed to developing it before he'll give you one.

InfoBeat - Get personalized news sent to you via E-mail. Many categories, including finance, sports, ski snow reports, entertainment, weather and reminders. Formerly known as Mercury Mail.

Auto.sig E-mail signature generator - This service generates personalized, lite-byte graphical signatures for use in E-mail. They also provide specialized signature generators for corporations that want to create a consistent signature style for their employees.

Free targeted E-mail - This site is offering a deal in which you can send 100 targeted E-mails (not spam) to customers who have already expressed an interest in your goods or service.

My Own Email - This service offers over 200 personalized domain names to choose from. Domains include: your-house.com, 1internetdrive.com, cowboysfan.com, most-wanted.com, and many more. Also, you can check your new address from the Web or have it forwarded to an existing address.

QuickEmail - Here's a nifty service if you have your own Web site. With this unique free service you can give your visitors the convenience of sending a quick E-mail from your page. Just paste the provided coding on your page and you're all set. Highly configurable and you can specify several options.

Flash Mail (for military families only) - This new service allows military families to send printed letters to family members, loved ones or friends on another continent. Just fill out the form and your Flash Mail letter is routed electronically to a special processing center in the destination country you have selected. Once there, your letter is printed out and mailed, thus saving days or weeks of travel time.

Epost - If you send an E-mail to this service, they will print it out and post it to any street address in India. Your acquaintances in India can keep in touch, as well, by posting a letter to this service, which will in turn E-mail it to you.

Cool List - - This service offers free Web-based mailing lists that are easy to set up. This one-of-a-kind service does have its problems, though. It's often too slow and at times you might find your messages don't get sent out (or get sent out twice).

Never Forget - Never forget another important date with this free service. Just type in the holidays and special events you want to be reminded of and get an E-mail reminder sent to you.

NetForward - A free service that automatically forwards your E-mail wherever you tell it.
